The study was supported by the National Institutes of Health (NIH) and by the National Institute of Aging (NIA), the National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases, the National Institute of Mental Health, and the National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke, and was approved by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) of the U. S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS).
Sildenafil citrate has been approved by the FDA for the treatment of erectile dysfunction in men under 18 years of age. Sildenafil citrate is only available under the brand name Viagra. In the US, the drug is sold under the brand name Cialis.
